Martin O’Malley is a liberal who believes in a strong government that helps Americans live well and prosper. During his stint as Governor of Maryland, he signed a law that would give illegal immigrants that came to the U.S. as children the chance to get in-state tuition, as well as signing a law to legalize same-sex marriage in Maryland. O’Malley has been a longtime opponent of the death penalty, and signed a law to abolish it in Maryland in 2013. The biggest con for Martin O’Malley is that he is simply not well known amongst the voting public. He entered the race via a low-key announcement in Maryland, and simply doesn’t put himself out there enough for the general public to pay attention. Another con, which could also be a pro, is that he supports raising taxes. As America is still feeling the aftershock of the recession, no one liberal or otherwise is going to be all about the taxes going up.
